Cooperative Federal is continuing to address debit card transactions impacted by the power failure at FIS Global (details below). We take this issue extremely seriously and are working urgently to review and resolve errors.
Many transactions from 1/17 - 1/23 that had previously been unposted were processed on or before Wednesday 2/5. This included VISA debit card transactions and PIN reversal transactions.
Additional transactions posted to accounts on Thursday 2/20.
On January 15, 2025 our debit card processor, FIS Global, experienced a power outage that affected their data center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Part of their backup system also failed. Read the press release from FIS Global.
As a result, transactions from 1/17 through 1/23 did not post to member accounts. Authorizations that were holding the money also expired. Account balances did not reflect pending transactions. This has affected hundreds of financial institutions.
Over the last month, FIS Global has attempted to fix this issue. However, some of the solutions implemented have resulted in duplicate transactions, overdrawn accounts, withdrawals showing as deposits (credits) and deposits showing as withdrawals (debits).
Cooperative Federal has all hands on deck to address this issue. We understand that these issues are negatively affecting our members, preventing them from paying bills or accessing paychecks.
